Another important reason is for insurance purposes. Over the years, the value of your jewelry and gemstones can fluctuate greatly. If your last appraisal is over five years old it may be out of date and, as a result, your jewelry could be insured for less than its replacement value. That means you risk financial loss if your jewelry is lost, stolen or damaged. Bellwether can provide you with professional appraisal reports based on current market values so you can obtain suitable insurance coverage. 
Bellwether will carefully research, document and photograph you precious possessions and provide you with an unbiased and impartial report, tailored to fit your specific needs.

Consulting & How I work

One of the most common inquiries we have at Bellwether is what do I have and how much is it worth?  So often jewelry has been gifted or inherited with little knowledge of the actual value of the item or collection.  Bellwether is happy to meet with you and examine your property to give you professional advice and an overall view of what you have and what your potential options are, whether that be a formal appraisal for insurance, equitable distribution or estate planning purposes or help with the potential sale and brokerage of your item or collection. 

Fees are based on an hourly rate. The rate is dependent on the type of service rendered.  

A written estimate and work agreement is provided in advance.
